About Us
Who we serve and support.
We are a non-residential hospice (we do not have a free-standing building) offering programs and supports to those living in east-central Alberta.
It is our intention to empower and encourage our community as its members navigate the experiences of life-limiting illnesses, end-of-life care, and bereavement and grief.
Anyone, of any age, with a life-limiting illness may access our palliative support programs. As well, bereavement and grief supports are available to all ages through the Grief & Bereavement Navigator.

EXECUTIVE
President: Nancy Howard
From a young age, Nancy was aware how important it was to support those who were experiencing health concerns and have lost loved ones. Nancy had first hand experience when her husband died in 2016. She also saw what wonderful support a Hospice program was at the end of her parents lives. Nancy is looking forward to serving the Camrose area by being a part of the Hospice Board
Vice-President: Pam Cummer
Treasurer: Selina Read
Selina, having been part of a family business, brings to Hospice a background in business and labor relations. She has used these skills in her work with the finance and fundraising committees.
She raised her two sons in the Camrose area where she has been a long-time resident. In her years here she has also served on the library board and the Crime Stoppers board.

DIRECTORS
Director of Finance: Rod Krips
After the passing of Rod’s wife Ellen, Rod was fortunate to be able to enroll in several Camrose Hospice Society programs, such as one-on-one counseling, the men’s cooking circle, the grief companioning program and has attended grief and bereavement workshops.
Director of Education: Sharon Burden
Sharon was born and raised in Hardisty, and graduated from nursing in 1983. The majority of her nursing career was spent in rural nursing at the Viking Health Centre, and the last 16 years in a managerial role. In 2021 Sharon retired and has been enjoying the extra time with her family, as well as a little travel. After spending 38 years in the healthcare system she has seen the emotional and spiritual challenges patients and families with chronic and end of life illnesses face. The Hospice Society is helping meet these challenges, and Sharon is looking forward to working with the Society to continue this important work.
Director: Penny Shantz
Penny is impressed with the programs the Hospice Society offers, not only in Camrose but in the surrounding communities. " "Compassion and caring is what we all need more of in this world". If Penny can help in a small way to keep the Society viable and continue their important programs, this is the group she wants to offer some time and hopefully, expertise to!!!
