2020 Hospice  Volunteer  Weekend Intensive Training 

Every year the Hospice Society of Camrose & District offers a training program that is open to the public.

You are welcome to participate, whether you choose to become a volunteer or not, however, first seats are reserved for those intending to complete volunteer registration.

Those choosing to become registered volunteers will be interviewed, asked to supply references, and to provide a criminal record check.

Training occurs on via online modules, several evening modules through the year, and one full weekend intensive.

2020 Weekend Schedule:
Friday evenings are 6:30 – 9:00 pm
Saturdays & Sundays are 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

2020 Spring Symposium
Compassionate Communities:
Before I die...

The 2020 Symposium focuses on the theme of living life fully until we die.  Borrowing from an international movement, we are using the "before I die" chalkboard motif to highlight passion for life.

Our keynote speaker for this event is Dr. Jodi Carrington from Olds Alberta.

Plenary sessions:
  • Seven Months: LPN Pat Carlson, cancer survivor
  • Living With Gratitude: Retired RN Rita Helmig whose husband died from cancer
  • Panel discussion with palliative physician Dr. Kevin Letley, Death Doula Rayne Johnson, and Bonnie Hoffman from Green Burials.
